jews, interest rates, poor people, and bigots
I can't shake this feeling anytime I check my social medias that there is a great deal of hatred in the world. I'd argue, online at least there is more hatred than love. When I see this hatred I want so badly to understand it. I want to do something about it, fix it, fix the problems that are being brought forward by it.
There's a lot of tension with Jewish people, there's this idea that "they" are the problem. When I think of what that means I picture the landlords mostly, jacking up rents for terrible units. Did I mention I'm from New York? So are all landlords bad people? Is the inherent ownership of land bad?
Similarly we have banks, banks give out loans with an interest rate. If you pay off a typical 30-year fixed income mortgage in full you would pay about double your initial investment if not more. Is this fair? Someone commented on a video about rates saying "Interest is a crime against humanity" and part of wants to believe him.
Is the system broken? was it ever working correctly for the benefit of all humans? Is that ladder belief even something worth thinking about? These thoughts run through my head on a daily basis. I want to do a good job, I want contribute but I can't help but notice the people being left out.
Why do we have such a rampant homeless population? Every time I see a homeless person I feel sorry for what was done to them, I don't blame them yet wonder why some people prosper after hardship and others don't. As people wouldn't we all benefit if everyone around us prospered? I picture a flock of sheep or birds, typically they all weight about the same and travel together. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough and for every 10 normal sheep there's a runt or one that simply doesn't act in accordance with the others.
Lastly, we have the bigots and oh boy are there a lot of em. You don't have to go far to find the most despicable takes. If you've ever illegally streamed a movie or sports show you will know what I mean. Not that I ever have.. The chat will be full of "sports fans" saying the most vulgar things particularly I've found towards jews and black people.
At this point though I feel this hatred slowly creeping into modern life. It's subtle but it's starting to get more and more accepted to blame your landlord, blame the government and those in power. Which in the collective mind seems to be Jewish people.
That's the last point I want to make. It's about blame and how destructive I think it is. Yet I find myself sympathizing. People are speaking out about rent prices, in my mind It's a supply and demand issue. For example, people WILL not stop complaining about rent prices in New York and all I can think is that this is the most popular place on the planet, no shit prices are high?
Focus on what you can control. Is that fair? Blaming politicians cause you can't find a good job seems rather wasteful. Who am I to say though? I'm young, my family is still supporting me financially, I'm working hard and seem to have landed a good job but who knows what the future holds. I want to be on the right side of history and honestly I can't decide which that is.
